Blumbergs’ International Philanthropy Conference 2019

We are holding a full-day event on international philanthropy on April 12, 2019: Blumbergs' International Philanthropy Conference.  A number of speakers from Canada and the US will be covering different topics in this day-long conference.

We are very pleased that the Charities Directorate is sending Anne MacDougall to speak about the rationale for the CRA's position on direction and control, and describe changes the CRA is contemplating making to its guidance products, CG-002, on activities outside Canada, and CG-004, on the use of intermediaries within Canada.

This a unique opportunity for charities who conduct international activities to learn about the rules and avoid compliance headaches. CRA has recently revoked a number of registered charities that were sending large amounts of funds outside of Canada without maintaining direction and control in addition to other concerns.  As well, the rules for direction and control are very similar for Canadian charities operating in Canada working with non-qualfied donees like non-profits that are not registered charities.

You can register for the event here.  We only have about 20 spaces left.   READ MORE
