CIDA Launches Two Calls for Proposals under the new Partners for Development Program December 1, 2010

Ottawa―The Canadian International Development Agency announced the launch of two new calls for proposals that will fund projects from Canadian organizations working with partners in developing countries. These consist of an annual call for proposals worth a minimum of $2 million, and a twice-yearly call for proposals worth up to $2 million. This is part of the Canadian International Development Agency’s Partners for Development Program that was announced on July 22, 2010

CIDA is launching the following two calls for international development projects with funds to be disbursed over a period of up to five years:

•a $110 million call for proposals for projects worth a minimum of $2 million with a submission deadline of March 31, 2011;
•a $30 million call for proposals for projects between $100,000 and $2 million with a submission deadline of April 28, 2011.
Calls for Proposals overview

•Proposed projects must contribute to Canada’s efforts to effectively reduce poverty, be sustainable and have clear results that will make a difference in the lives of people in developing countries.
•The calls will fund projects from Canadian organizations in partnership with organizations in developing countries.
•CIDA will contribute up to 75 percent of direct eligible Canadian project costs.
•Organizations submitting proposals must be incorporated in Canada and have relevant experience managing and delivering international development projects in developing countries.
A call for proposals for projects worth a minimum of $2 million will be launched annually, while a call for proposals for projects worth up to $2 million will be issued twice a year.
