Canadian charities spending on foreign activities rises by 16% in 2009 from 2008

In 2009, according to the CRA and its T3010 data, Canadian charities spent 2.9 billion outside of Canada.

The 2.9 Billion spent by Canadian charities outside of Canada is a 16% increase over 2008. 

Furthermore in 2002 the expenditures on programs (directly or indirectly) outside of Canada were $1.4 billion and in 2009 as noted $2.9 billion.  So from 2002 to 2009 there was a 107% increase in spending outside Canada.
